We are united in our common purpose to make the world a better place and our roads safer for everyone.The Casey Feldman Memorial Foundation is a 501(c)(3) public charity that was founded by Joel Feldman and Dianne Anderson after their 21-year-old daughter, Casey, was killed by a distracted driver in 2009. What We Do To make a difference Scholarships We're committed to empowering the next generation of philanthropic leaders through scholarships. Over 135 scholarships and stipends have been awarded. Animal Welfare & Service From organizing service days and funding spay and neuter days at no-kill shelters, to supporting programs that rescue pets from disaster areas, we continue Casey's legacy. End Distracted Driving We are saving lives and making roads safer by educating students and adults about distracted driving. Our science-based presentations have been given to more than 500,000 students and adults. You can help by making a donation today Your gift will have an immediate impact. More than 94% of donations go directly to foundation projects, and the remainder towards operations. Support the Foundation Memories Of Casey I was struck by how much Casey had accomplished in her 21 years and said to myself, what am I waiting for? Margaret Berry Casey politely let me rant then cut to the quick with the following gem, punctuating it with an adorable eye roll: 'Uncle Andy, why do you always have to be so didactic?' Humbled, and yet delighted by her disarming observation, I realized right then and there that I could learn a lot from my darling niece. Andrew Feldman I tripped and the belongings of my purse scattered all over the floor in front of many people. Casey stopped to help me pick them up. I said, ‘Well that was embarrassing’. Casey smiled at me and said ‘only if you let it be…’ Morgon Dawson Casey always had a way of making me feel like I was amazing....One day when I was complaining to Casey about how some boy that I liked wasn’t into me too she said something I have never forgotten: ’Some people just can’t handle us.’ Jamie Gallagher McKelvey So I was to “interview” her. Needless to say, it turned that I was the one who was interviewed..... Now I am a lawyer who supposedly has some authority and gravitas which could potentially intimidate a young interviewee. No chance. Casey, in a nice but persistent way, got the situation turned completely around, got the job and she was right about the method. Jim Ronca Little did I know that her work personality would not only make her a damn good news editor, but also a great person to work with and a good friend. Brent Nycz I then knew why Casey was a “part-timer” at my law firm– she was a journalist, a writer and a creative thinker. The job at the firm was a job, the writing was a passion- it was a big part of who she was. I was honored to share that summer with Casey- reading her work, getting to know her better, and watching her pursue her real dream. Larry Cohan For almost every criticism she made, she ended it with a smiley face or a silly little condolence like, 'Don’t worry, it doesn’t mean you suck or anything.' That was Casey. As an editor, she was talented, to-the-point and critical, but she never lost sight of the human being behind the words she was ripping apart.... Liz Bowen Casey was The Observer’s rockstar....Whenever I’d start to get complacent about my work, I’d think of her and try to become the journalist that she inherently was. The influence she left on all of us will make us strive to keep turning out a newspaper that she would approve of.
