United in Faith,Serving Devon Together A network of Christian churches and communities journeying together in unity and hopeWorking Together for Christian Unity in DevonEngland has a uniquely diverse Christian landscape, where churches from many different traditions actively seek ways to worship, serve, and grow together. Over the years, something quite special has developed: in many counties and major cities, churches work together through what are called Intermediate Bodies. These groups bring churches into regular contact with each other, helping them share in worship, mission, and community projects. They also support local partnerships between churches, sometimes known as Local Ecumenical Partnerships (LEPs), and encourage unity in many other ways.Here in Devon, our Intermediate Body is Churches Together in Devon. We are supported by a part-time Ecumenical Mission Facilitator, whose role is to:support churches and local Christians/Churches Together groups in joint mission and outreach projects,give advice and encouragement, andsupport LEPs and other forms of local unity.Our Enabling Group (the name for our county-wide committee) meets four times a year—in January/February, May, September, and November. Together we:review the work of LEPs,take part in community events like the Devon County Show, andvisit towns and villages where churches are exploring ways of working more closely together.Our aim is simple: to help Christians across Devon grow in friendship, understanding, and partnership, so that together we can better serve our communities.
